Would you name your child after

A character in a movie or even a movie star?

I LOL'd yesterday because someone just HAD to know what the baby's name was going to be... so I told her Jennifer Lopez S_ _ _ _ _.

The woman was mortified and ask if I was serious.  I said yes!  And told her that if we were having a boy I was naming him Antonio Bandaras S_ _ _ _ _!

LOL!  It shut her up... but then I actually liked the ring to Antonio Bandaras S_ _ _ _ _ .  My BF laughed and said he liked it too.

So, I was responding to the Cole post below and I have this vision of Cole from Charmed and how HAWT he was with the whole bad guy in love and wanting to be good for his witchy bride thing... and it made me wonder who else thought of "stars" when they name their child?

    We didn't name our son (Brock) after Brock Lesnar, but he became really popular shortly after, so people assume we did.

    I thought about suggestion to my husband naming our child Rhiannon after the Fleetwood Mac song if we have a girl....

    If baby is a girl we will be naming her Piper. We got the name from Charmed, but also there are a few old movie stars with that name.

    We didn't think of the name Piper after anyone famous, but everytime we tell someone they ask if it's after Piper Perabo or Piper Laurie.  I always think of Piper from Charmed, but luckily no one else really does.

    I have a niece named Ainsley, after a character that was on West Wing, and another niece (her sister) named Reese...after Reese Witherspoon.  My sister is pg again and says she swears she won't name it after any character or actor/actress this time...

    My coworker just named her daughter Ainsley....she's a doll!

    Ditto. Not very many people I know watch Charmed so we're good that way. We aren't necessarily naming our baby (if it's a girl) after the character, that's just where we heard the name.

    My parents picked my name from a character in a book.

    I don't think it's weird to use the first name at all.  It just happens to be a name that you like.

    If you name your kid Reese Witherspoon ______, that's when it gets a little weird, IMO.  :)

    We thought about Vivian Leigh.. after the actress who played Katie Scarlett in Gone with the Wind. My late mother and I as well as my 2 year old love that movie.  And my moms middle name was leigh so we thought about it.

    OMG... I'm such an idiot.. I just remembered that I was named after Lindsay Wagner.  My mom said she was walking down 5th Ave in NYC and walked smack into her by accident.  She didn't know who it was and when my dad told her she said she liked the name.  She changed it up a bit so mine is spelled differently, but yeah... I was named after an actress.

    She's not a celebrity, but if this baby is a girl we will name her Jane after Jane Austen (my favorite author).

    Well, since I was born in the 1970's and my mom was a huge Beatles fan, She named me from that cute song, "Michelle"  as in my bell.  I love it.  My mom passed away a couple of years ago so when I hear it I feel really connected to her.

    We were going to name our girl Elizabeth from Pride and Prejudice's character Elizabeth Bennet and call her Lizzy.  Also I am a big fan of 30 Rock and Tina Fey's character LIz Lemon so she was going to be named after her as well, but of course I was the only one to know that :)  But we are having a boy so that is out the window.
