What comes after convertible car carseat?

Mobile Title: What comes after convertible car car seat?

DD is forward facing, we made it till almost 2 before we had to turn her because she outgrew the rear facing height limit (she is over 90% for height). DH and I each have a Britax Boulevard. She still has lots of room to grow in these, but my parents have an Evenflo Titan Elite. Although it says that it works until 47 inches (which I know DD is not) her head is a little over the top of the seat. From what I have read and looked up that means it is time for a new seat. So do we need to buy a new convertible or is it as safe to get something like a 3 in 1? I have been looking at the Evenflo Maestro or the Graco Nautilus.I know she needs to be in a five point harness. We want her to be totally safe, but also if my parents can but a car seat that would be a five point harness and then a high back booster we are good with that as long as it is safe. Does anybody know? Or have suggestions of other seats to look at? DH and I were looking at the Frontier for us when the time came, but we would really rather be in the less than $100 range for my parents. We can also go up to $150. She is not in it daily, but enough that they need one.

Edit for clarity:  I know my kid it not supposed to be a in a booster high back or not, but are the 3 in 1 with the five point harness ok or are they just like a high back booster?

  • I think the 3 in 1 kind would be fine.  They are just forward facing carseats.  They don't have the option to be rear facing.  I'm surprised the Evenflo isn't still working though.  We have the evenflo symphony 65 and my 2 year old

  • I'm really surprised too about the current size.  Dumb question maybe, but does the shell rise like it does on the Blvd?  We have the Blvd too, so you know what I'm talking about?  I just bought C a Cosco Scenara (Walmart, $40) for grand

  • I have the Maestro for my DD and it works great for us. It's really light, easy to install, and very narrow. I have the Evenflo Triumph for my DS and that thing is a beast compared to the Maestro.

You do not need to get another convertible seat.

  • I recently took a carseat safety class.  One of the things they mention is that a seat will say 47" overall height-which is true and wonderful, but if your LO has a longer torso and shorter legs-we have this issue with Oliver-they will "outgrow" t
