Bed/crib question

Hi everyone!

I'm mostly a lurker but would really love some opinions. I just found out I'm expecting baby 2. Which is a complete surprise. My fianc I are looking into buying a house the house we are buying granted this last little bit of stuff goes through fine it'll be a 2 bedroom. So obviously the kiddos will be sharing a room. Now I'm toying with the idea of putting DD in a twin/toddler bed w/ rails baby 2 in her crib.... Or should we just look into getting another crib? Btw DD will be 17months when baby 2 arrives

    I am due in Dec and my DD will be 18 months when LO arrives and I'm planning on getting a toddler bed with rails for her.  I'll see how she does closer to Dec but I'm hoping I don't need another crib.

    My DD was only 13.5 months when we had #2, so we definitely got another crib. 
     
    FWIW my DD is 2.5 now and still in her crib. We will not be changing any time in the near future. DS is currently 18 months old and I could not at all

    DD1 was just shy of 19 months when DD2 was born. We did not buy a second crib. DD2 stayed in the PNP in our room for the first 6 months, which gave us time to transition DD1 to a toddler bed. DD1 moved to the toddler bed at 23 months, and a month later

    I would absolutely keep #1 in the crib and buy a second one. Keep anything that keeps children sleeping the same. You will already have a newborn to handle, you don't want to have to be fighting your toddler to get back/stay in their bed.

    Mine will be 17 months apart. We bought a 2nd crib.

    I'd wait a few months and see how LO does before making a decision.
