Where do you shop for maternity wear?

Hi Ladies, where have you been doing your maternity shopping? I was reluctant to buy actual maternity clothes at first, just wearing my regular open cardigans and flowy tops, but now that I'm nearly 6 mos, it's become clear maternity is a necessity. Plus, I'm facing the reality I will probably still be more comfortable in maternity wear for a couple months PP.

I just discovered H&M in The Forum (Carlsbad) has a small maternity section and I bought a couple work shirts for $20 each. Also, a couple of maternity camis for $7 each.

My favorite splurge-worthy shop is Modish Maternity in La Jolla. They carry all the brands you can find online (Olian, Japanese Weekend, Maternal America), but you can actually go to the store and try them on.  The also carry premium denim (Citizens, Paige), and their prices are typically better than Pea in the Pod.

I also stopped by the Motherhood Outlet in Carlsbad, but they didn't have any deals better than the regular store. I bought one pair of work pants for about $25.

Unsurprisingly, whenever I go to Target I pick up a dress or top from the Liz Lange line too.

What have been your favorite places to shop for maternity clothes? What's your favorite purchase so far?

Re: Where do you shop for maternity wear?

  • I haven't purchased much maternity. A lot of times I'm able to buy larger sizes in the stores I normally shop at and that would work. I've picked up a few things from motherhood, a pea in the pod and destination maternity.

  • I like all your suggestions, plus old navy maternity and gap maternity you can get such great deals with coupons online and since you only wear things a few times... I definitely have bought more than I need... But I don't mind the give up in quality at old navy for the cute tees and dresses...

  • Honestly didn't buy much maternity wear.  Some of my favorite t-shirts were from Motherhood though, ruched on the sides they worked great for me post pregnancy too (large breasted and long waist so the additional length works great and the material is stretchy enough to not be baggy).

With the warmer weather my favorite this time around has been to buy regular, short dresses - things I know I will want to wear when I'm not pregnant and they've worked great as tunics with leggings right now. Any dress with a waist that can go above the bump and not look weird.

  • HM was my savior, I got super soft comfortable jeans for under 39 and the cutest screen tshirts. Macy's usually has a small maternity section with Jessica Simpson and Pea in the Pod clothes you can get on sale. My favorite online shop was ASOS.com, which carries super cute skater dresses super chic and easy on the wallet. I hated Motherhood because their clothes is crap and expensive and A Pea in the Pod was too expensive for a less than 6 month wear, I just couldn't justify spending that much.
