Airport scanner?

I'm at airport and jus refused the xray machine, the one where you stand with your legs spread and arms up inside the machine while it goes around you. Instead, I got a very personal pat down from an agent. Right after me I saw a 7 mo Pg mama go through the machine. I wonder if it is safe or not?

Re: Airport scanner?

  • They are supposedly safe. But you have the right to refuse to go through it, I always do!

  • It's fine.

You use a cellphone everyday without worrying about the radiation, right?

  • Man, this just highlights for me that I haven't nearly finished asking questions!

Thanks for this, i never would have thought to ask until i was right in front of the machine ;]
  • I asked and was told that the one at my airport was safe. However, the guard told me to always ask bc not all of them are safe for pregnant women!

  • I have very strong doubts about the scanners being safe for NOT pg people, let alone pg women. And they're 100% unconstitutional, so I decline them just on principle, baby or no.

  • I flew a month ago and will be flying next week. I went for the pat down, too, just to be safe. I'd prefer to avoid any unnecessary radiation.
  • Totally disagree with the person who said the machines are unconstitutional! I would rather know that the people on my flight aren't carrying weapons and bombs instead of it be a free for all! I do agree with everyone else that the pat down is safer for p
  • Thank ou for asking this because I was wondering the same thing! I'm going to visit my sister in Texas next week ad was wondering if it was safe or not
