How do you put silverware in the dishwasher?

Eating part up or down in the silverware basket?

I can't create a clicky poll on this device, so it's an old fashioned one.

Eating part down! Unless there are just a ton, and then I do handles down so they fit better.

ETA--This is in my dish drainer, not dishwasher.

I usually put the eating part up because our dishwasher is tiny and so is the silverware holder so that's the only way it all fits.

I alternate both eating part down and up! I cannot stand when spoons or forks get stuck together in the dish washer.

Eating part up. My dishwasher has individual slots to keep silverware divided, and its the only way they fit. I also think they get cleaner that way.

My IL's do it the other way around and I always feel weird unloading it. Does it get cleaned better if you do handle part down? My silverware comes out just fine, so I've never understood why people would switch it around.

Down. They get cleaned just as well as up. I think touching the part you eat off while unloading kind of affects the cleanliness of the utensils. Here's a clean fork, let me touch it all over ...
