PT'ing advice

I decided yesterday morning to start PT'ing G.  I was going to wait til summer but I wanted this to be sorta done before I go back to work in Aug.  Its so frustrating!  I don't know if hes truly ready (thought he was) or maybe I'm doing something wrong.  Any advice would help.

At first I decided to put him on the potty every half hr but keep him in diapers in between.  It was obvious he would hold his pee until I put the diaper back on.  So, i decided to let him go without diapers or undies or pants.  I just read that it helps them learn better and quicker.  After that, he peed in the potty twice but also had accidents on the carpet twice.  I thought that was pretty good for a first day.  And DH was at work for 8 hrs so it was crazy difficult to constantly keep an eye on G and put him on the potty every half hr while taking care of a baby too.

Today, though, Gs only been awake for like 5 hours so far and hes already had 3 accidents.  Hes peed in the potty once as soon as he got up in the morning.  With one accident I put him on the potty right away and he sat there for 15 min cause I was certain he wasn't empty.  I let him get up and 2 min later he peed on me.

This is so frustrating!  I know PT'ing can be time consuming and you have to have patience but ahhh someone tell me this is normal, please!  Its normal to have this many accidents in the beginning, right?  Or is G not ready yet?  Should I be putting diapers on in between?  Or keep him naked?  I tried underwear one time but he peed right away, I think cause he thought it was a diaper.  Even if he learns while naked, what happens once I put on underwear?  He might regress, right?  Help!!

TIA
