I never go over to the BNB anymore, so I would feel weird posting this there, but I wanted to share a funny I overheard at the park today.
DS was hanging out on the monkey bars where some older girls were playing (maybe ages 7, 8, 9). There were about 5 of them, and they didn't seem to really know each other. (They were hanging out while their brothers had baseball games or something.)
Girl #1 said something to another girl and referred to the girl as Stefine (pronounced (ste-FEEN). This is the conversation that followed:
"Stefine": My name's not "Stefine" - it's Stephanie!
Girl #1: What?
"Stefine": I said, my name is Stephanie!
Girl #1: Oh...sorry. Can I just call you "Stefine"?
"Stefine": No, that's not my name.
Girl #1: Oh...How do you pronounce it again?
"Stefine": Ste-pha-nie
What kind of world do we live in where there are so many you-neek names that an 8/9 year old girl had NEVER heard the name Stephanie before?
Re: because the BNB board scares me...
Speaking of names: I saw this little gem on Facebook: Edynn it took me a minute to figure out they were trying to spell Eden. Why? Just. I don't get it.
