VSD needing surgical repair?

My three week old son has a large VSD that will need surgical repair. We're just beginning to learn more and go for our follow up next week. Is anyone else going through this or have had the surgery already? I'm looking for insight to calm my nerves. Thanks!

  • My daughter had an AVSD (atrioventricular septal defect) and it was repaired during open heart surgery at 6 weeks old. There are a few other heart mama's here!

    My advice is to look at pictures (if you think you can) of other babies post-op. I did

  • His symptoms are rapid heart rate and breathing (sporadically), heart murmur (the reason we were sent to cardiology in the first place) and he's slow to gain weight. He's a very sleepy eater and ebf so that's my number one priority for now. No supplementi

  • My daughter just celebrated her one year OHS anniversary on Friday :)  She had a large VSD patched.

     

    Iz went into congestive heart failure at two months old.  Medications helped with her symptoms--she was on Lasix and Aldact
