December 2013 Moms

Just joining!

Hi all! I just found out this week I am 5 weeks pregnant!! I am paranoid over everything. What I can and can't eat, what I can use topically for acne or body wash, what exercises I can do. I know a mc is possible now and I am trying to do everything right. I have my first doctor appointment Wednesday. Will they check hcg levels there? Is it normal to be this scared??

Re: Just joining!

  • Congrats and yes, it's normal. It'll get better, enjoy this time!!!

  • I don't think it is normal routine to check HCG unless you have previous history with MC or have been struggling with infertility. Congratulations and try not to freak over everything

  • Congrats and welcome!!

HCG is part of a standard pre-natal blood work up. Generally you'll have some blood work done at your first appointment and they'll check your HCG numbers then. Certain ladies get their HCG tested earlier and repeatedly but

  • Congrats! Yes it's normal, but try to relax. You'll stress yourself out with all the do's/don'ts. They probably won't check levels unless you have a history. Just remember that all kinds of symptoms are normal as are a total lack of symptoms.

  • Welcome and congratulations! Try to relax a little. I worry too, and have to remind myself that women have had babies successfully for longer than we've known what to worry about. Happy and healthy nine months.

  • Welcome and congrats!  Nerves are normal and to be expected.  Your first visit will most likely be a medical history for you, YH, and your families.  They may do a blood draw, but if you don't have a previous loss, they may just schedule
