What grinds your gears? (Vent)

I am mega annoyed by baby books today. They all contradict each other, and even themselves sometimes.

The whole "if you let your baby cry, he won't trust you" thing is pissing me off. One book even describes this from baby's point of view, making it sound like 5 minutes of crying puts baby in a panic, makes him wonder why nobody loves him, and eventually he just gives up. They make it sound like baby is giving up on life itself! Well, I don't let my baby CIO, but there are times I cannot pick him up, like if I take a 5 minute shower and he starts crying while I'm in there. Or when i put him down to prepare his bottle. The entire time, I'm thinking to myself, I am a terrible mother, he hates me, blah blah...thanks baby books for contributing to my mommy s guilt.

The other thing annoying me Is that all the books say to lower your housekeeping standards, and that dirty dishes in the sink aren't important. Well, they are when you can't wash baby's bottles because the dishes are piled in the sink. And this same book says to keep your house dust and pet dander free for optimal baby health. Ok, which is it a$$holes?

Eff you baby books. I think I'll. figure this one out on my own!

Haha I agree. I love it when they say laundry can wait. Um so should baby go naked all day? Because with all the spit up and blow outs we go through lots of clothes!

Ugh, I hate that whole "your baby won't learn to trust and be well-adjusted if he has to cry" thing too. Babies cry and sometimes you have to put them down. Of course I don't let my baby CIO ever, but sometimes he cries no matter what I do to soothe him.

honestly, some books are nuts. Just go with your mommy instincts! If it doesn't seem right don't do it. If it feels right, it work and no one dies...go with that! And LO crying for 5 minutes isn't going to make them not trust you. You just don't want them
