High-Risk Pregnancy

CL shortening

Hi ladies,

I saw MFM yesterday and my cervix went down to 2.2cm from 2.6cm 2 weeks ago. I am almost 24 weeks now and my Dr said that she wouldn't rec a cerclage and wouldn't start progesterone until I get down to 2cm. She would rather just "wait and see" if I continue to shorten and see what I measure in 2 weeks for another check. She feels just monitoring now is good and as far as restrictions that I should just try and take it easy. I've been complaining of pressure and cramping for sometime now that comes with activity and she said just listen to my body. If I'm feeling uncomfortable to get off my feet. I must say I'm very worried about taking a "wait and see" approach. I see my regular OB next week and will see what her opinions are. I'm wondering if I should also ask about betamethesone in case of preterm labor? What are your thoughts? When did your Dr. take action?

Re: CL shortening

  • Mine was 3.4 at 22 weeks. At 22 1/2 weeks the pressure and belly tightening with activity started. At 24 weeks it was 1.8 on internal u/s. My dr gave me steroid shots, placed a pessary and proscribed progesterone suppositories. For me pressure when sta

  • Personally, I'd get another opinion.  Things can change really fast.  GL!
  • Last week at 27 weeks my cervix was down to 2cm with funneling and I was put in bedrest. This week I was back over 3cm so bedrest was working.
Personally I wouldn't be comfortable with a wait and see approach this early on. Things can change fast

  • wait & see seems crazy to me! the most accurate CL measurement is internal u/s. I would get another opinion or put myself on bed rest in your situation.

in my previous pg i was dilated 1-2 with a length of 2 cm at 27 weeks and spent 8 w

  • There is no way I would be ok with the wait and see approach especially with pressure and cramping that you are feeling. My cervix started to shorten at 22 weeks and I was immediately placed on strict bed rest I also have a son who was born at 26 weeks du

Thank you ladies for the advice and support. I have been limiting my activities and went to my OB today. She put me on modified bed rest as her opinions and concerns are the same as mine. She also wants weekly checks staggering between high risk and her s
