One & Done: Only child

Only Homebodies

DS just turned three. He is the biggest homebody around. We offered to take him for pizza as we left the aquarium. He said, "No thanks. I want to go home. I miss my dog." We are home today and he wants to play in the backyard. I have offered to take him to the playground, farm, and to lunch. He just prefers to play in our backyard. We do have a big backyard with a lot of toys. Someone mentioned to me that her only is similar. I'm just curious if anyone else's dc is a homebody as well.

  • I cannot say yet as my son is only 14 months old, but your son sounds adorable.  I love the "No thanks" and "I miss my dog".  Too cute.
  • Different ages, so who knows, but DD goes stir crazy if we stay in too long. You can almost see her body relax when we put her in the stroller, even if we're just walking to Starbucks.

Of course, we don't have a dog to miss <img src="https://comm

  • If you throw in the park or Target (her favorite places) then she's not, and would so go.  Otherwise- yeah, she can be. But so am I.  And actually, so is my mom.  So I'm not really surprised.

  • Awww...that is so sweet! My kid is always asking "where are we going next?" Lol. I wish she would miss the dog!

  • My DD is. She's the same age as your DS, Arcadia. We were out for lunch a few weeks ago and she said, "I want to go home". Must be a 3 y/o thing. I wish she was more go with the flow but she's a total homebody.
  • My son often asks to go home. We were at a baseball game Sunday and he asked over and over to go home. Uh... hello? You love the crap outta baseball. I don't get him sometimes.

After me complaining to DH that DS wasn't enjoying the game like

  • Ella likes to go out and about, but she's just as content to stay at home. She loves to visit other people, but only if they have toys. The week we started potty training she was home from Sunday evening-Thursday afternoon and she was pretty unphased by i

  • This is hard for me to answer!  Big picture, yes, I'm a homebody.  And I think DS leans that way too.  He's perfectly content to play w/ his toys for long periods of time.

BUT on days where it's just the 2 of us all day - *I* need

  • My DS has always been like that and still is now at 7, lol.  We're always like, "Hey!  Let's go out for lunch and then the museum!" and then he's all, "I wanna have lunch at home and then <insert some activity at home>", lol.  Once

My daughter is not a homebody at all.  Quite the opposite.  She's happiest when we are on the go all morning and is very, very social.  On days we need to stay home she is cranky.

I am an only though and was definitely a homebody

  • Adorable! I think my kid is a bit of a homebody too. She will ask who is coming over today? We have a lot of play dates at our house. Also we have lots of therapists at our house since she has autism.
