Nannies

Does anyone know the going rate for a part time nanny? I just need someone to come two to three days out the week to watch my toddler while I run errands. Please help

Re: Nannies

  • I talked to one of my mom-friends about this just this week. The rate really varies by experience of the person and how much housework you expect them to do with the base being 10-12 and going way up. I've heard 35-40 even.

I plan to use care.com about a month before we start needing someone and going from there. I will say though, what you're describing is more "babysitter" category. So I'd try the websites searching for babysitter. I wouldn't call someone a nanny unless they work at least 30 hours a week for you (and often nannies expect benefits and higher pay). Hope that helps!

  • I've heard 1015 is pretty standard. If you only need care part time you might also want to consider a nanny share which could be even more affordable....either one nanny splitting the week between two families, or find a family who already has a full time nanny and add your LO the two days you need it with some cost sharing arrangement.
