I know this has been posted a thousand times, but I really don't know which way to go!
I live in Holland and my insurance covers home births only, so if I go to the hospital I'll be covering all of it. I was sure I wanted to do it in the hospital because I'm a FTM and basically I was terrified by childbirth. But after reading a lot and watching good natural birth videos and stories, I feel more confident about it.
Last week I received my home-birth package from the insurance company which includes everything we need for a home birth, so basically we just need to call our MW and we're all set. But I still feel something can go wrong and we'll be far away from doctors
Did you have your first LO at home? What made you feel safe? Did you need to transfer to the hospital?
TIA!
P.S. Birthing at the hospital would still be with my MW and no epidural, also no pressure about time or inductions as they are against all of those things in Holland (yay for us!) So I'm not afraid of being bullied at the hospital or anything, it's just a matter of safety and money.
Re: Home birth or hospital?
I have no answer for you, but I think it is so awesome that Holland does homebirths! I wish the US allowed more of that and less hospital!
Best of luck with your choice, I just think it is awesome you get to do home birth as a matter of course, i

I truthfully don't understand the whole, I have to have the first baby in a hospital but will have other babies at home. Statistics show that homebirths are just as safe so its not like it is safer at the hospital just because you have not had a
