Dilating faster than I thought!

Last Thursday I was 1cm dilated, yesterday (exactly a week later) I was told I'm already 3cm dilated! Even though Connor's due date was originally May 11th, it looks like he will be here much earlier than that at this rate! I will be 37 weeks on Sun - so I am ok that he is deciding to come now! He will be full term

You may indeed go into labor tonight. But with my first I was found to already be 3cm at my 36 wk appt and I went TEN DAYS past EDD. I wished I had never been checked honestly!

Okay so TMI moment but I lost my plug two days ago, and at my appointment they told me i'm 2cm and 50% effaced. I am moving quickly as well and it might just be me but I understand it could take "weeks" but not every pregnancy is the same. Just tired o

Dont get too excited! You cant stay 3 cm or more dilated without going in to labor. Its good for your LO's brain to stay in there as long as possible. Dont rush it!

Just thought I'd add, from what I understand, the main purpose of internal checks is so when you believe you are in labor and get checked, they know if any progress has been made.

You can be 3 cm for weeks, I was. I walked around at 3-4 cm for weeks.

My friend was walking around at a 6 and finally went into labor at 40 weeks.

My sister was 2 for several weeks, then 4 until she was 40 weeks 3 days.

I have not read through the other responses but I feel safe guessing that others have mentioned you can walk around dilated and still not have a baby for several weeks. You could possibly be pregnant for yet another month still.
