Babies: 6 - 9 Months

LO answering to his/her name

I am curious as to how many have LO already responding to their name. Isn't this around the age they do it or should it have been earlier?

Re: LO answering to his/her name

  • I think it depends on the LO.  To rest your fears ask your pedi about it.

  • I asked this a few days ago at DS's 6 month appointment. According to his pedi, it's not until at least 10 months. I was bummed.

  • My LO started responding to his name right around 8 months, maybe a week before he turned 8 months.  He doesn't necessarily do what I say, like don't touch that or come here, but if I call his name, he'll turn and look at me.

  • My LO has responded to her name for about 2 months now. All babies are different though.

  • My DS looks at us smiling if we say his name. He is almost 8 months but has been doing this since he first turned 7 months.  I'm pretty sure this is him responding to his name.
