Beware...Adoption Scam Artist

I had been talking to a BM online who found my name on my agencies Facebook page...it is such a long story, but a week ago I felt like things were not matching up(got some skills of that MTV Catfish show lol)  I stopped contact with her and then was messaged by another couple warning me about her and I then messaged couples that were apart of her facebook page called The Adoption Journey.  Turns out she was telling every couple they were in the running for her baby and she has been scamming couples around the united states online with different names/requests..ect.  Thought I would message this out to all of you so you don't end up talking to her.  I know she could totally change her name to something else and contact others(no that she knows we are all on to her).  My agency has refused to work with her(yes she contacts real agencies to ask for profiles) and a lot of agencies have put a watch out for her.  This makes me glad that I am working with an agency and has taught me not to talk to people online and just go through my agency, but at the same time it scares me because I never thought that these adoption scam artists actually contact real agencies for information....ugh..this world sucks sometimes.  I am glad I only invested time with her and not money, but I of course could of been doing other things that talking to her online til midnight most nights!  Here is the information that is going around online about her.

ADOPTION SCAM!!!! THE PERSON RUNNING THIS SITE IS SCAMMING COUPLES AROUND THE UNITED STATES?SHE GOES BY RACHEL CLARKSON/KATIE LAWSON AND OTHER NAMES.  WE AS TO BE ADOPTIVE PARENTS NEED TO STICK TOGETHER AND NOT LET THIS HAPPEN TO OTHER HOPEFUL COUPLES.  HERE IS THE MESSAGE I RECEIVED FROM ANOTHER COUPLE WHO HAS BEEN SCAMMED BY HER.  AGENCIES ARE ALSO STARTING TO CATCH ON AND BAN HER FROM WORKING WITH THEM.  IF SHE SAYS HER FRIEND IS ALSO PREGNANT AND DUE AND LOOKING FOR PARENTS AND SHE GIVES YOU THEIR INFO...YOU ARE JUST THEN TALKING TO HER.

 

BEWARE!!!                                

Just wanted to give you a heads up to be careful of any connections or communications you have with this individual. The person that runs this page is a known scammer. She tried to scam us until our agency and Adoptimist shut her down. Here is one of the most recent post warning families about her. In the meantime I have reported her site.

Update 1/21/13: She is emailing families again under the name Anna Doles, stating she is 21, from AZ, has a 21 month old son, Ayden. 
Update 1/22/13: May also be known as katielawson09 from Perkins, OK. Believed to be a moderator of an Adult Rant Page and the adoption journey on Facebook.

7/18/12-1st RE appointment CD2 blood work taken. Told to move straight to IVF. Starting BC pills and FSH injections plus Lupron. Hopefully doing ET in September Off BCP March 2011 Started TTC July 2011 7 months TTC with no luck an then.... Diagnosed 2/24/12 with 2 Ovarian Cysts. 3/22/12-Lap to remove cysts, look for endo, and see if tubes are clear. 3/22/12-Diagnosed with Severe Endo(tubes are clear). 4/4/12-Post op OBGYN appointment. Told chances of conceiving naturally are very low, but told conceiving in the next few months is our best chance due to being cleaned out during Lap. Referred to a RE. RE said IVF is our only chance to get pregnant. Told only a 20% chance even with two put in. 9/5-Lupron 9/20 Stims(Menopur & Follistim) 9/30 Trigger time 10/2 ER 10/3 fert report-out of 7 eggs retrieved only 2 fertilized. Hello "Thing 1 and Thing 2!" Kinda sad there is none to freeze. Because only 2 we will have 2DT to get them back into a natural envionment 10/4 ET. Found out that only 1 divided. We love you "Thing 2." Thing 1 is now snuggled inside me and we are praying it will be our take home baby! **Did not even make it to my beta, the day before on 10/16/12 I got my F'in period** Such a stab in the heart. Nov 2012-Moving onto domestic newborn adoption! Can't wait for my take home baby. We will try IVF again after 1-2 years of a clear head. Need a break from infertility treatments/issues for my mental sanity! image

    Thanks for the heads up and sorry you wasted your time with her.  Doesn't your agency ask for proof of pregnancy before sending her profiles or did she just get your name from the agency website and contacted you on her own?  Seems odd that if you are working with an agency that any EM would contact you directly.

    She saw our adoption facebook page on the agency website and started contact...I never got serious because I knew she would have to go through our Agency first, but I thought some chat here and there would kinda build a relationship and be friendly.

    We got scammed by her a few months ago also- as "Rachel Lynn". She messaged us through our online profile and we set 5 or 6 messages back and forth over a weekend. We were not at all expecting a scam and nothing really seemed "off" in the messages that we had exchanged but when we told our agency her name a few days later we were told it was a scam. We didn't talk to her that long and had another possible match at the time so it wan't that big of a deal for us, but I imagine it would be for a lot of people who had really gotten excited about it being a real situation. Who are these sick people?!

    Does anyone have a picture of her that I can compare to the one she sent us?? I am very worried that my close friend is also being scammed by this same person!!!

    My very dear friend has been contacted by who I think is this woman. She is kind of hesitant to fully believe that it is her because they have been trying for so long for a child of their own and finally it seemed that something good was coming their way. This girl sent her a picture that I have on my phone and I was hoping someone on here had one that I could compare it to. My email is tammy1@jnjmarine.com and my name is Tammy Schoch.
