Baby Showers

registry question

Hi ladies! Wondering what you think...

I wanted to register at places that seemed convenient for most to physically shop at... I narrowed down to Babies R Us and Target - seemed most convenient and BRU seems to be very similar but a bit cheaper than Buy Buy Baby.

But I've been surprised that Target seems to almost have nothing I planned on registering for in stores. Everything is saying online only, which seems annoying for many people. (I know I ususally end up getting the friggin present on my way to the shower).

Should I do most stuff at BRU and stick to two registries? I saw some darling things at Pottery Barn - but again they're a bit more pricey and not as many stores (in my area at least) for people to shop at...

Would it be tacky to register at three places so that friends and family have more options to shop from or does that look gift grabby?

Re: registry question

  • My original plan was to do an Amazon universal registry and a Target registry for folks who don't want to shop online or who leave it to the last minute. I switched to BRU because I had the same problem as you - everything I actually liked from Target was

  • There's nothing grabby about having three registries, so long as you don't register for duplicate items (except in instances in which you *would* require multiples of something) and have a decent range of price points. If some of the things you really wan

  • I think registering at 2-3 places is fine IMO. I also have a BRU and Target registry. After searching and scouting the aisles, I made sure what I picked I liked. It might not of been my first choice, but it was just as good. Plus, baby's not going to r

  • I don't know if this is helpful, but I registered at three places. Target, Amazon and then at a local cloth diaper store which also has an online store. I felt a little weird at first having three registries, but I ran into the same problem as you at targ

  • I found Target to be disappointing in terms of the in store items. I wish they had more in store, if they had I would have registered there. As it stands, I did Amazon and BBB. I'd add the PBK items to the Amazon.

  • Thank you all! Unfortunately, there's no BBB nearby me and from best I can tell it would be pretty inconvenient for the majority of my friends and family. We're all in the same state and I did a search.. Lot's of food for thought. I appreciate it!

  • We did target as a registry for our wedding and it was a pain in the butt.
Some of this might not apply to baby registry but I want to share because our experience was annoying enough would not register with them again.

  • I ran into the same problem at Target. Also, Target requires receipts for ANY return, even for registered items, so that's something to keep in mind. I don't think 2 (or even 3) registries is too much, esp if the items were different. A lot of women have
