I knew I was in labor when...

I knew I was in labor when...

I had timeable contractions. The first time it was so obvious! With DS1, I was eating breakfast, started having cramps, figured out they were timeable and he was born that night.

This time I just can't tell. My body seems to be doing a lot more practicing. I have had BH for a few weeks, which I never had with DS1, and last night I was woken up by cramps, nausea, bowel movements, and general ickiness. I had my membranes stripped yesterday at 39w4d and had my bloody show this morning. Ugh. I am so impatient this time. I am going to try to time my cramps but I have a feeling this is another false alarm. Lame!

How did you know you were in labor? For STM's, was it different the second or third time around?

  • I didn't FTM here an I leaked fluid for a full day before coming to get checked. I was having contractions and didn't even feel them. About an hour after my exam in triage water broke the rest of the way and then I started feelin things.

This time I've been confused! I had strong contractions 3 mins apart for 5 hours and thought for sure it was time. That was Tuesday.

  • I had exactly the same experience.  With DD the day the I had timeable contractions was the day I had her.  With DS, I thought I might be in labor several times.  My contractions would be timeable for 2 hours or so and the just fizzle out.
