I have another question. Our babies were born at 26w4d and I'm planning on them coming home around their due date as the doctors told us to. A few friends I have that have had preemies told me their child/children came home anywhere between 35-38 weeks. I just asked the doctor again today (different doctor) and she said for 26 weekers, we usually see them come home around their due date. Is this what you have found to be true? We're still preparing everything at home as we didn't finish before they were born. I am just looking for a normal window for babies that are born so early. TIA!
Re: Gestational age when they come home?
My 26 weeker came home at 38 weeks. We would have come home sooner but she had some trouble feeding which kept us there a couple of extra weeks.
My 24 weeker came home 2 weeks after his due date. He had a lot of breathing issues and came home on oxygen, an apnea monitor, nebulizer treatments every 4 hours, and 10 different daily medications. But, he's a happy, healthy almost 7 year old now! Abs
