I have posted about my sons biting/hitting before but I have finally narrowed it down and wanted to see if anyone had more advice. In general he is an extremely happy 18 month old but he has been hitting and bitting other kids when we are at the park, play group, classes etc. -- only when he is with me. He has never done this with his nanny, grand parents, friends or even his father. It started out with a few hits/bites to his friend but has evolved into him hitting/biting almost every kid he comes in contact with.
There is no pattern or reason (at least that I can see) for him going after a particular child. Its never over a toy or anything like that. He just walks over to someone and hits/bites until he is physically removed and made to stop. I hold his arms, look into his eyes and say no hitting/biting, you hurt so and so. If I then let go of his arms or bring him to a different area, he always tries to run right back to the same child and continue hitting/biting.
I know that this can be a a phase, especially since he does not speak yet, but he is breaking skin and making it very difficult for me to take him to activities. Any suggests or advice would be greatly appreciated!
