DS is 5 weeks and 3 days old. He is combination breastfed and formula fed. I would say he gets no more than 2 formula bottles in a 24 hour period (maybe 3 if he wakes up in MOTN during one of DH's "shifts"). Today, he has had only 1 ounce of formula, the rest has been BF. I would not say he has nursed a lot. Since we got up for the day around 6:30am, he has had two typical nursing session, and then a couple of periods of cluster feeding/comfort nursing (can't tell which).
What concerns me is that he has had 5 poopy diapers in less than 2 hours, and they are not little tiny poops. It's not like i'm changing a diaper for a tiny poop session, and then two minutes later, he poops again. I'd say they're the average amount I have come accustomed to being in a typical diaper. I know babies are typically supposed to have 1 BM per feeding, but should they be this close together? Should I be worried or is this normal?
Re: Too many poopy diapers?
Normal. I just changed a poop, set him down, went to change him again! Mine typically had 12 poops a day the first month. Now he's about 4-5 a day, sometimes going all day then skipping a day. Only worry if they turn funky color
My 6 weeker does the same. I was very excited the other day when I finally changed her diaper and there was NO POOP in it! This was after being in that diaper for 2 hours. I don't think this has ever happened before.
<pThanks for the responses, guys! Yeah, kids do poop a lot. I was just wondering in this case because I couldn't recall my DS having so many poopy diapers in such a short period.
Again, thanks!
