Will hospitals let you carry the baby out?

We are thinking about getting a convertibel carseat, not an infant car seat then upgrade to another one, but was wondering if they will let us, just walk out with the baby, holding in our arms then placing him in the convertible car seat.

    I don't think they can legally keep you there. Just tell them you have a convertible seat installed in the car. They might require you to sit in a wheelchair and hold the baby on the walk to the car though.

    They wheeled me to my car but didn't examine the car seat at all. We too had a convertible. I've heard stories of hospitals giving parents a hard time for not having an infant seat, but if your baby fits well in the convertible and meets the weight

    The hospital I delivered at does not check the carseat. They don't want to take the liablity of making sure you use it and use it correctly. So they tell you to, but do not actually check it.

    We did use an infant seat, but no one was watching or

    Your plan would work at my hospital. Mom is required to hold baby while sitting in wheel chair and both get rolled out. We were not allowed to carry her out in the infant carseat ...

    I know when my niece was born they did a carseat check...but she was also on the small side so not sure if this was her case or if they do it for all. I really don't have a problem with this though, they know better than I do if it will be safe for my bab

    I would call your hospital and ask what their policy is.  Ours would either let us strap baby into the infant seat and have mom hold on her lap, or just have mom hold in her arms, then mom and baby got wheeled out to the curb.  The nurse did che
