How do you deal with being sick and baby?

I am pretty sure I am coming down with something, I am achy and slightly nauseous (and co-worker was sick earlier this week).  All I want to do is go home and let DH take care of DS, but I bf and on one hand I don't want to get DS sick and breath on him while BFing, but on the other the idea of pumping is not a pleasant one.  I would add tired to my list of ailments, but heck, we are all tired all the time.

  • LOL, DH just told me that I can't be getting sick, I haven't done anything to get sick.  Apparently being back at work isn't enough for him.  I swear he doesn't think sometimes.

  • I hope you feel better soon!  As an aside, though, you can and should nurse DS even while you're sick.  You pass your antibodies on to him.
  • Yeah that is what I heard.  He actually slept for 6 hours last night, here is hoping he does it again.
  • I had to deal with this last week on my first week back to work. I went back on Monday and by Thursday night I felt awful! DH fed DS the babysitter supply so I could rest and then I just pumped if I felt crappy of BFed when I felt not as bad. Really couldn't have done it without DH!! Hope you feel better soon...don't worry too much about getting DC sick...my son didn't catch my nasty bug!
  • Give your DH your DC to take care of while you rest (really important while BFing) and having him bring your DC to you to nurse often.  It's actually better.  If your DC comes down with it, chances are he was already exposed before you knew you had it.  Your body is already fighting it off, so if he hasn't come down with it, he either won't b/c he gets the antibodies or will get a really mild case.  It always worked out better for me if I caught something before DD when I was nursing.  Just take care of yourself and drink lots of water still.
  • I BFed DD but otherwise, except for feedings, DH took care of her and kept her far away from me and I rested.  I just avoided coughing or breathing on her.  DH also burped her for me so I would handle her less.
