Moms with school aged kids

Those of you with school aged kids do your kids walk to school or get a ride or take a bus? We are looking houses and I am trying to figure out how far is too far from a school? You have to live at least 1.6km from the school to be eligible for free bus services, all the houses we've been looking for are just under the 1.6 mark which would make for a 15 minute walk! Is that too far? Would you feel comfortable with that long of a walk?

    I do not have school aged kids yet, but I wouldn't be comfortable with even a 5 minute walk to school in today's world. I will be driving my kids to school or they will take the bus. I'm way overprotective and do not at all trust anyone else not to do som

    I don't have school age children, but some schools have a "walking school bus" where parents volunteer to walk the kids to school. My former boss was a kindergarten teacher and her school had a lot of walking school buses. Usually it was a stay at home mo

    Depends on the age of the kid, how busy the roads are, if they're walking with someone they know.

    When ds1 was in Kindergarten we lived far enough away that he could have rode the bus but i drove him everyday.

    We moved at the beginning of grade one and we live in a complex directly across from the school. I drop him of at school (usually walk

     My son is ten and walks 6 blocks to school. I agree there are a lot factors that you have to take into account. There are crossing guards and a cross walk with stop light on ds's route.
