My first IUI is complete! Squeeee!!1!!1

Everything went great. RE said I likely O'ed that morning and our timing for the IUI couldn't be better.

But I do have a question about DHs sperm counts. I asked the RE while I was sans pants and my lady bits exposed to the world so I didn't think much of it until later when I read the report. RE told me his post wash numbers were 234 mil. That's what the report says.

But when I look at the concentration numbers before wash it was 77 mil. How can the count go up after the wash? Did the two numbers get mixed up on the report? I know both numbers are great. I'm happy with them but this just confused me.

Here's the rest of the numbers just for reference.

Volume: 3.5 ml
Motility: 51
Total motility: 137 x10 6th/ml
Post wash concentration: 234 x10 6th/ml
Post wash motile: 43
Post wash total motile: 40x 10 6th/ml

I don't have any knowledge of what these numbers and terms really mean. I know the number is good and I'm not disputing that but I want to learn how to decipher this so I can understand it.

I think that the concentration goes up because once you wash the sperm, volume goes down (based on your numbers your post wash volume was about .4 ml). If you compare your totals pre and post wash, you wil notice that the total motile sperm is lo

I think post wash sperm concentration goes up because you get rid of a lot of the extra stuff in the ejaculate to have a smaller volume. Most of the spern are contained in that smaller volume so concentration goes

If his original count was 77mil/ml times 3.5ml then his original count total was 269,500,000. (ie 269.5 mil). They spun it around so the bad swimmers fell to the bottom and skimmed the good fellas off the top.

I'm very lucky that we do not have any sperm count issues. When his SA came back with high numbers I kinda thought it was a fluke, but obviously not.
