Trouble TTC

anesthesia affect sperm?

My DH has not been able to eat anything solid for 2 straight days. He has only been allowed to consume clear liquids to prepare for a colonoscopy that he will be having tomorrow morning.

My question is, we are supposed to be taking the trigger shot tomorrow. Will all of this no food, laxatives and most importantly, the general anesthesia affect his sperm?

Re: anesthesia affect sperm?

  • I'm not really sure, but I do know that if he is dehydrated then that can have an impact on the semen in general. So, since he can drink water, I would really encourage him to drink extra water. Good luck!!

  • I believe that anything that happens this week will not effect the quality of sperm released this week, as they have reached maturity. The sperm he is producing now that will be released in about 70 days or so could be effected by an illness, fever, etc.
