Introducing solids to EBF baby

I thought this board may be best to get views more akin to how I'm raising my son.
He will be 6mo on Sunday and has recently started showing a very strong interest in food and drink by trying to grab things from me. We've given him small amounts or water or cold BM in a sippy cup, which we enjoys but it pretty much just drips down his chin.
I am thinking it's about time to start introducing some foods for fun. I've looked up some first foods recipes but I was curious how other moms decided they thought their baby was ready to try food. Any input is appreciated.

  • Have you looked into Baby Led Weaning? That's what we did with DS. It's skipping purees and going straight to "real" food. I started with things like banana, avocado, and homemade sweet potato fries.

  • We do BLW too. We started at 6 months. At seven months, he has tried a bunch of foods and really enjoys eating. He loves banana, asparagus, sweet potato, toast sticks with hummus, and even little calzones and quesadilla.

My advice is to try foods, but know that your LO may not be interested in it for another month or months.  We tried a traditional puree at 6 months, and DS hated it.  We then switched to BLW, and he didn't have an interest in having food in his
