I don't know if that's always true, but you can definitely lose your MP without noticing. It's not always a big nasty chunk, and you can lose it on the toilet and not know. So if you think your water has broken, I wouldn't use not remembering a lost MP as any kind of evidence to the contrary...

My water broke and I didn't lose my MP until about 10 hours later when I was in the hosptial, laboring.
