I really want to attempt a water birth this time around, but my S/O has talked me out of it. His fear is that all the things released during labor and delivery (blood, poop, etc.) will be floating in the birth pool/tub and will get all over me and the baby.
So, anyone that has had a water birth, how can I alleviate his fears? Is it really going to look like a bloody, poopy pool by the time I'm finished. I know the water won't stop these things from happening, but he pictures something like a murder just occured in the water from how gross it will be.

So, you are not allowed to utilize a wonderful pain relief technique because it might gross him out? Wow, he sounds like a really supportive partner.
Personally, I would just do what is best for you and tell him to suck it up. A

Second, I know sometimes they use nets to scoop out the poop. Like the kind they use to get fish out of fish tanks. That might be an option. I'm sure the water is not clear after baby co

I love that he thinks he has a choice in the matter. What's he going to say? "Hi honey, I know you've reached the pushing stage but *I* am not ok with this now so you best just get out of that tub so *I* am comfortable, 'kay?"

The water doesn't get that gross and they drain it pretty quickly.
