Trouble TTC

Low Progesterone Question

Hi, everyone. It's been awhile since I have posted, but I still lurk every day! I have a question regarding progesterone that I am hoping someone can answer, as I won't hear back from my RE until tomorrow, and I might just go crazy before then!

Back story for this cycle: Everything looked great at CD3 monitoring. CD10 had one dominant follicle, but wasn't really close to being mature. I wasn't able to get in for additional monitoring this cycle due to being out of town, but a positive OPK and rise in BBT (I still chart even though I know I don't have to) shows that I did in fact ovulate.

So, yesterday I went and had my progesterone drawn at 7DPO. I got my results via voice mail today, and supposedly my blood progesterone level was 0.2, indicating I didn't ovulate.

I know that a positive OPK doesn't guarantee ovulation, but I always thought a clear thermal shift DOES indicate it. Plus, my temperatures have even been a bit higher than usual post-O this cycle, so I am just having a hard time wrapping my mind around this.

Here is my chart (if this works!):

Re: Low Progesterone Question

  • I would agree that you have a thermal shift indicating ovulation....Sorry, I don't have an answer for the low progesterone though.

  • Thanks! I thought so, too. I just don't get the super low progesterone level. I thought progesterone is what causes the thermal shift to begin with!

  • yes progesterone does cause a *** but very little prog is required for that shift to occur, if that makes sense, what i mean by that is, increase in progesterone past this point will cause a bi phasic shift and also a triphasic in pregnancy as prog levels
