Re: Pregnancy Folklore from Around the World
Great. Now everyone from 1st tri is going to come over here and freak out about papayas and bare midriff shirts.
That would be AWESOME!
My favs:
Madagascar
Black-eyed peas
Black spots on baby
New Guinea
Inadequate exposure to semen
Poor fetal development
Inadequate exposure to semen
and I could not live without milk, difficult labor or not!!
that's hilarious about Belize...how does one go about avoiding a lunar eclipse? Hop on the space shuttle?
Add to the list:
In Russia, women are told they should never sit on any cold stone seat (bench, etc) because they will never be able to get PG.
According to Greece, my baby is going to come out looking like a huge Cheez-It since I'm polishing off a box right now.
I need to go tell my FI about these two...I could totally use them as an excuss :0)

Hooray for New Guinea (never thought I'd say that...)
I don't know about poor fetal development, but I've heard that exposure to your partner's semen (vaginally and orally- yes, you have to swallow) during pregnancy helps your body recognize your partner's proteins and helps keep your immune system from attacking the baby during pregnancy. I couldn't remember where the article I read was, but here's something similar:

No, meli... you're being a good mom and insuring that your baby WON'T look like a Cheez-it by polishing off that box! That would be a pretty hilarious birthmark though!
