Well, I've only posted once but have been reading posts everyday! I was sitting in my office last Friday when the agency called and said we were matched with a birth mother and our baby boy was born and he was ready to be discharged. I called my husband and we both rushed home, packed, and we were on our way. We drove 12 hours putting us at the hotel in the middle of the night. We spent the day with the birthmother which was an absolute amazing experience. We laughed, cried, and shared stories while holding our son in her hospital room. She was absolutely amazing!. BM signed over rights and baby boy was sent home with us. We are now waiting for ICPC to go through and we are heading home.
Couple things I've read on this site that have come true:
-When you're placed, the excitement you feel is unexplainable.
-Bought a crib two weeks prior which seems to bring people luck
-The first month after being active is the hardest but it does get easier.
This board helped me like no other; to have people understand your emotions and feeling was so comforting!!
Re: The call that changed our lives....
Congrats!
We had a similar experience, minus the ICPC. And we still didn't have a crib mattress
Enjoy your boy!
