lumpy generic formula

I am switching my DS to generic formula.  I'm trying to find a brand similar to Similac advanced.  We are currently trying Target's Up & Up and it seems like it does not mix as well and still has lumps after shaking the bottle for several minutes.  Anyone else have this problem?  Another other generic brands we should try that is similar to Similac and mixes better?  Thank you!

Re: lumpy generic formula

  • I tried to switch to generic too and had the same problems (only used a formula mixing pitcher). It also made my DS constipated so we just stuck with Similac. I hope others can give you some suggestions on options that might work.

  • Maybe try one of the electric hand mixers.  The munchkin one at BRU is less than $6 and works like a charm.
  • We buy the Sam's Club brand of formula (originally started on Similac). While it does take a little more shaking to mix it up, we generally don't have problems with lumps, and it is less foamy than similac.

  • I use the Costco Kirkland brand generic. It is comparable to similac advance. I don't have problems with clumps, but it is kind of foamy. I mix it in dr.browns pitcher and let it sit in the fridge a little while to settle.
