Hello all! I have been lurking on the board and learning a lot since I hit the 1-yr mark back in Jan. You really have taught me so much and the board has been such a good resource while going through the testing phase. I've added my basic info to my siggy, but cliff-notes version is that by charting I knew I was not ovulating (only ovulated once since off BCP, and that time had 6 day LP), finally went in for testing with OB in late Feb. Diagnosed with PCOS.
So...question for you. I have stayed with my OB up until this point because it was easier to get the testing covered by insurance with him than switching to RE. This past cycle he suggested 50mg clomid, and I agreed because 1) I didn't even have to ask for monitoring, he insisted on it; and 2) his office is literally across the street from mine and so convenient. Just went in for my mid-cycle ultrasound and no follies >10mm. He is now suggesting another 50mg clomid cycle. I like him a lot and his office has been fantastic, but should I be moving on to an RE? Or do a couple of cycles with him and then switch to RE if I need to move onto injectables or ART?
Honestly, I thought I was doing ok with all of this emotionally, but tonight found out our neighbors are expecting #3 in 3 years...and she was complaining about not having enough time to loose baby weight between pregnancies. I smiled and congratulated them but totally lost it later in the shower. I guess the ups and downs come with the territory. ![]()
Sorry - way longer post than I planned. Looking forward to getting to know you all a little better!
Re: Intro and Thoughts? **bfp mentioned, not mine**
Staying with the OB is a personal decision. I really wouldn't care to get my tests ran before moving to an RE. It seems like yours is doing the correct monitoring but I would still be concerned about him making

Hi...in March and April of last year I tried clomid with my OBGYN but without monitoring. I didn't respond/ovulate so I switch to an RE last Summer. Since switching I have been diagnosed with PCOS IR so I am now on Metformin. I have tried clomid at 150
If you did not respond to 50mg of clomid, why would he not want to try upping the dose to 100mg? If he wants to do the exact same thing as you just did with no response, that is what calls me to question sticking with him.

Hello and welcome.
In response to the questions about not upping the amount of clomid: do you suppose it's because of the amount already in her system? According to my RE, clomid will stay in the body for 6 weeks.

I'm surprised your OB didn't up your dosage of clomid? I would think he would increase the dosage to get those follicles growing more....this is why I would recommend an RE. Even if your OB is doing proper monitoring RE

I just wanted to say welcome and good luck! PP has given some good advice. And we all know how rough it can be to hear someone complain about a pregnancy. That why we try to keep this board as our safe place to lean on one another, learn from each othe
