Hello from an (almost) 35 year old pregnant lady (due with baby #2 in November, I turn 35 in October). I?m a tad confused about the testing options available at 12 weeks, maybe someone here can help J
Does anyone know what the NT Scan tests for, in addition to what the T21 bloodwork tests for? I?ve googled this and am actually having trouble finding info on what all the NT Scan covers. Most of the info out there focuses on the scan?s ability to give odds for the risk of trisomies, but I thought it also checked for major heart defects?
In other words, is there a reason to get the NT Scan also if you are definitely planning on getting the T21 bloodwork?
Thank you so much.
Re: NT Scan in addition to T21?
Yes the nt scan just gives odds of trisomies, I think its more specific to downs. They combine the measurement from the back of the neck with your age and bloodwork to come up with your odds. It doesn't check for heart defects as far as I kn

In my case, the cell free DNA test came back positive. I would have been a lot more worried except that the NT scan looked completely normal. The cell free DNA test result turned out to be a false positive.

Thank you all very much. I had a big scare with my first pregnancy when the NT Scan/bloodwork came back showing a rather high risk of Downs. I ended up getting an amnio....it was an extremely stressful wait, so I was happy to learn of the new materniT2

I did the NT Scan (just the two ultrasounds, no bloodwork) and the T21 test. The NT Scan was covered 100% and the T21 cost $235. Apparently they recently changed from it being a sure thing that $235 is the most you'll be charged to it being
