Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Yougurt and Food Coloring for finger paints

Has anyone tried this? I have some mommy friends telling me that it's "not safe" and others say it's fine.

What's your opinion on a few drops of food coloring in yogurt for some fun finger painting?

  • I thought about trying it with mashed sweet potatoes. I think a few drops of coloring in yogurt would be fine. Certainly much healthier than taking a taste of the store bought finger paints!

  • I guess I'll go for odd man out.  I don't think it's dangerous in the least but I never did it.  I actually prefer that they do take finger dips of the Crayola Wonder or some other finger paint that tastes like soap.  We do a LOT of kiddie

  • When he was a lot younger (meaning more eating than playing with finger paints) I made my own with cornstarch, water, and food coloring.  It worked out really well and I didn't worry about how much of it he was eating.  It also washes off just a

  • if it really bothers you why not use plain yogurt then color it with jello or koolaid packets?
