Anyone self employed and have insurance coverage?

Hello friends, I introduced myself a while back and have been lurking (occasionally posting) since then. I get a lot of answers without having to ask thanks to the previous posts. At any rate, I'm married (unfortunately, not in the eyes of the State) to my amazing wife and we are planning on TTC with donor sperm. 

She is a full-time firefighter and has amazing insurance. Unfortunately for us, the State doesn't recognize our marriage, so I can not be added to her insurance. (I'm not asking for an argument on same-sex marriage, just providing a background) We are hoping to get this changed, but in the meantime, I am without insurance.

I am self employed as an attorney and do a lot of contract work. What that means is that I get projects to work on, and it is full-time, but not through an employer. None of the firms that I work for provide insurance for temporary employees (and by temporary, I mean I've been with them since October...).

SO, after that long and drawn out intro (sorry about that!) my question to you is: Are any of you self employed? If so, do you have insurance on your own? If so, do you have any recommendations on providers/plans/etc.?

    My Blog

    September 2012: Start IF testing

    DH (32): SA is ok, slightly low morph, normal SCSA  Me (32): Slightly low progesterone, hostile CM, carrier for CF, Moderately high NKC, High TNFa, heterozyogous mutated Factor XIII, and +APA

    October 2012-May 2014: 4 failed IUIs, 3 failed IVFs, and 1 failed FETw/donor embryos

    November 2014: IVF w/ICSI #4 Agonist/Antagonist with EPP and Prednisone, Baby Aspirin, Lovenox, and IVIG for immune issues.  Converted to freeze all due to lining issues.  2 blasts frozen on day 6!

    January 2015: FET #2 Cancelled due to lining issues

    April 2015: FET #2.1

    My husband and I are self employed we each have our own insurance policy. I pay 250 a month and have a 5000 deductible. It covers maternity and pregnancy costs at 100 percent after I meet the deductible. I didn't use anything toward my deductible last yea
