Dentist?

DH went to the dentist a week or so ago and I had him ask when we're supposed to take DS. His dentist told him 6 months after the first tooth comes in. He got his first tooth in October, so we are going to make an appt....but how in the world would the dentist even go about looking in DS' mouth?

Has anyone taken their LO to the dentist yet? I'm scared.

At our 1 year old appt our pedi said it is recommened between now and 2 years old...

Any insight?

  • My dentist said between 3 and 4.  So I haven't even taken my son yet.  I will take him before school starts in the fall.  So it isn't even on my radar for DD.

  • I asked the hygenist at my last appointment.  The practice I go to doesn't see children until 3 years old.  She said that while the recommendation is 6 months after the first tooth, that unless I see something that concerns me, just make sure I

  • My dentist is amazing. He said to have Gabe in sometime after his first birthday just for a first appt. Probably in part for me to learn how to properly take care of his teeth. He said they take a look as well and check everything out to make sure the tee

  • I asked my dentist when I went in Jan., and our ped when we were there in March. Both said regular dental visits aren't necessary until 2, unless there's a specific issue. My dentist even said he was ok with waiting until 3 to start cleanings.

  • I agree with PP. That is the recommendation that I heard as well (6m after 1st tooth), but when I asked my dentist she said that was pretty agressive. She said 2 is fine as long as there are no issues.

  • DD had her first appt at 2.5 and she would not open her mouth. Like not at all. So that was a fail! She did much better at 3 & 3.5, and then did awesome about a month ago. She told me to wait in the waiting room! She went back and got her cleaning
