Dr said NO to 3-D ultrasound

in Pregnant after a Loss

I asked about the 3-D u/s at my appointment yesterday and he said they are not medically needed and he is very against them...He said they are not covered by insurance even though I'm AMA.

Does anyone have any thoughts to add?

    The tech at the MFM turned on the 3D for a few minutes last week (at 24 weeks).   When the doctor came in, he asked if she did that yet b/c he was going to if she hadn't (and I am also AMA- which sounds so much better than the geriatric mother t

    My OB's practice is the same way.  There is no medical indication for them--they don't help the docs diagnose anything at all--so they are really just for fun for the parents.  (And I go to a huge practice at a top academic hospital that has all

    Strange...when I had my A/S done at the hospital the ultrasound tech asked if we wanted to see the baby in 3D/4D and gave us a CD of 10 photos.  It was really neat!

    My perinatologists website lists it as helpful in diagnosis of spinal bifida and cleft lip and palate, also says it is primarily used to confirm a problem seen in a 2D ultrasound. They turned it on for a few minutes at my thirteen week and I am sure they
