Medicaid?

Okay. So SO and I aren't yet married. And because of that, I cannot be on his insurance. I also qualify for Medicaid and planned on doing that until LO arrived. Well everything has been set up but I got a letter in the mail saying that because I don't turn 21 until after the baby is born, that they have to take my mom for child support? I haven't lived with my mom since I was fifteen and do not agree with this in the slightest. My mom is gonna flip when she finds out and think that I'm the one doing it and not that it's mandatory. We have planned on getting married, but with everything else that has been going on, it hasn't been a main priority. I don't really know what to do because I have to return the paper filled out and signed within seven days. That's not long enough to get married and switch over by my next appointment.

  • I really have no idea how applying for Medicaid works, but try talking to Planned Parenthood they may be able to give you advice.  Also, depending on what state your in, I know it's true for Massachusetts, you can be put on your SO's insurance if you

  • You could do a quickie wedding. In my state, Missouri, you can get a license and married in about a 4 hour time span! You wouldn't even have to tell people, just do it for the insurance.

  • I think that you have to provide a letter showing that you no longer rely on her for support. I had to do this with my first. I was 20 while pregnant and then turned 21 a few weeks after he was born. Of course this was like 12 years ago.
