Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Toddler suddenly interested in baby's toys and blankets

How are you handling your older toddler when It comes to baby's toys, etc? Our daughter will be 3 next month and is suddenly very persistent and insistent about playing with our 6 month old's things. Obviously she has a house full of toys of her own. She is just now starting to show jealousy and adjustment issues, so I'm hoping it all all improve and pass with time. But are you letting older siblings play with baby's things? Only when baby is sleeping? I realize its not a huge problem, but I don't want her to continue taking things from him, insisting everything is hers, etc.

  • Unless she grabs it out if the baby's hands, let her play. Baby needs to share, too. Hehe.

  • Like PP, she can't take a toy from her sister, but a part from that I'm pretty slack about it.  In a few more months the little ones will be able to fight back. =-P

  • nope, DD1's toys are DD1's toys and DD2's toys are DD2's toys. DD1 is 4, but I started letting DD2 play with DD1's toys (while I was with her) and DD1 got the point real fast!

  • Our kids are pretty much the exact same age!  DD is May 20 and DS is Oct 3.....so I know exactly what you are going through!  I let them share.  If she wants to play with the baby toys, I let her.  A lot of them are her old toys any
