My son really wants a Star Wars party. I've come across so many ideas on the web and I'm starting to get excited myself. I'm handy with a sewing machine. I'm not a pro but I know enough to get by. So I'd like to make Jedi robes for the kids that will be coming. Problem is that my son's birthday is in August. Yes I'm planning now since I'm expecting 3rd baby about two weeks before his birthday and want to have everything done early. All the cheap fabric I was looking at is kinda heavy and hot for August. Does anyone have any suggestions for light brown fabrics that are on the cheap side?
Jersey cotton, maybe? At the risk of sounding totally ghetto, could you try doctoring some cheap brown towels? Maybe sew over one corner to make a big hooded towel? If the party is in the summer, the kids would probably get good use out of them swimming...
Our Jeri party was in August as well...and I was too lazy to make full on robes! I bought tan felt to make vests; it was just a long rectangle with spit down middle. And I made belts. Here is a pic https://www.flickr.com/photos/gabebrannan/4170293998/
I've been sick with a horrible cold and away from computer for a few days. So glad I checked the post though. I LOVE the idea of a terry jedi robe. I'll have to see if we have the budget for all the kids. If not, def making one for my little man. I like the jedi vest idea. They can wear that at the party without the fear of heat exhaustion. Thank you ladies!
