Yoga Pants/Leggings?

I work in a tiny office where the dress code is business casual - you certainly can't wear jeans but slacks and a sweater, khakis and a blouse, etc are completely fine. My (female) boss wears a lot of dresses, the two guy wear dress pants and polos/button downs but nobody wears suits.

Would you think it would be acceptable to wear yoga pants/leggings as long as the top was a tunic style blouse or sweater that completely covered my butt? Would you wear something like that to work?

Re: Yoga Pants/Leggings?

  • Just my opinion, but yoga pants and leggings are even less "formal" than jeans, so I would say if you can't wear those, you shouldn't wear yoga pants or leggings.

Have you looked for a pair of relatively cheap black or khaki maternity pants

  •  No- Active wear should NEVER be wore to the office.

    Edit-

Leggings maybe  ok with long tops that cover butt/vag. Top needs to be nice

  • Leggings with a long tunic and a heel, yes. I thi j flats would be too casual unless they're embellished
  • Just no yoga pants
  • I work for a fashion company that owns very well known brands and I wear leggings to work at least 2x a week.  My rule is as long as my shirt covers my butt and then some I'm good to go.  They can be cute and fashionable!

  • No yoga pants, but I will wear leggings under some of the sweater dresses I have. I think they can be ok depending on what you put up top. Definitely, as others have said, cover up your butt.

Thanks for the feedback! A friend of mine thought leggings might be ok but not yoga pants. I'm still not sure. Unfortunately, we're such a small office that we don't have an HR person to ask.

  • I wear leggings under dresses every single day.  In the winter I would pair them with boots.  Now that the weather is nicer I wear heels or nice flats.  I think leggings can look very nice, so long as the dress/top you're wearing over them

  • Leggings yes Yoga pants NO!!!
I work for a fashion company as well and I have been wearing leggings to work everyday for the past 4 weeks! You can pair them with a pretty woven top and blazer and heels and they can definitely work!
  • I agree with PP, as long as you are pairing the leggings with formal attire they really aren't too different from thigh-highs.  Yoga pants would probably be a no, unless you got loose fitting ones that looked like slacks.  I used to sneak scr

  • My personal opinion is no. We have a large office and we are business casual. It doesn't look very professional to see women running around in yoga pants, leggings etc Even with a long shirt (exception is an actual dress with leggings). It looks like you

  • While I no longer work, I bought Old Navy Maternity Yoga Pants online.  I have to be honest, I couldn't tell the difference between them and dress pants. So maybe look into those.  I have them in black. I would make sure to wear them with a long
