Back from being MIA for a few days

I feel like I have missed a lot since Thursday. UGHHH Oh well. Update on where I've been and a phone call that left me almost in tears.

This weekend was my SILs wedding so we have been prepping since early Friday morning (I was able to mobile bump for FFFC but that was about it) which included manis/pedis, lunch, hair (for me at least and came out with some awesome honey colored highlights!), rehearsal, and the grooms supper. My kids went nuts and it was an early night for all of us. Did the whole wedding thing on Saturday and I must say I looked super pregnant in my dress I ordered from Zulily. Slept all day on Sunday and that about wrapped up my weekend. Exciting I know.

Now for the phone call. I met with MFM for my a/s and consult with a doc last Tuesday. The boys looked great and the consult went ok. We went over everything twin related, Lupus related and the possible complications from it. All of which I am pretty versed on from my previous pregnancies and research. We ran over my lab results from DD and I found out I was positive for both SSA and SSB (both are antibodies that can cause heart block in the baby) and I didnt know about that until last week. I knew that there was extra monitoring but was never told anything beyond that. Oh the things I wish I had spoken up about! The pregnancy with DS was great with no extra monitoring by MFM and just a watchful eye on my Lupus by my OB.

With this pregnancy (so far at least) has been a little bit of a ride. SCH, low lying/ marginal placenta previa (this was deemed to be low lying in the end), cramping, spotting, all of which are common but in comparison to my other pregnancies this is a lot. During the visit with the specialist I asked about a quad screen and we agreed that it was fine to do that day. She also threw in a creatinine draw to get my baseline numbers and an additional test to look for markers of heart block that were not drawn initially.

Well I was called Friday just before the wedding rehearsal and was told that my blood work came back positive for antiphosopholipid antibodies which is soft marker for more autoimmune issues. I had a stroke when I was 19 so this is a little alarming to them. The doctor was going to talk to rheumatology and see if I need to start a regimen of baby aspirin or if we need to take it one step further. I was SSA positive so I will be going up there a few more times for fetal echos since the prime time for heart block to set in is between 18-28 weeks. I just hit 18 weeks this Sunday and the next 10 weeks are going to be stressful. I do have a doppler at home and will be seeing my OB weekly for a visual doppler which is really just an ultrasound since MFM feels that even though we know which baby is which but due to the low lying placenta they want to be 100% sure we are picking up both boys. I am trying not to freak out too much and focus on eating right, drinking tons of water and caring for DD and DS but it is so hard not to think about the 'what ifs'.

So there you have it ladies, my weekend in a decently long nutshell. Words of wisdom are appreciated.
