Hi all,
I just need to let off some steam, not looking for feedback or anything. BF and I have two beautiful children, a 9 y/o DD and a 7 y/o DS. We split almost 3 years ago now, which was for the best for several different reasons. For the most part my kids are well adjusted despite our separation. I have primary custody, and BF gets them every other weekend and on Tuesdays (although he doesn't always wind up taking the Tuesdays).
For the past year BF has had a girlfriend and according to the kids they have recently become engaged. I didn't really think too much of it because they hadn't complained about her or really said anything negative and I'm glad that he moved on. However this past weekend I met her and to my surprise she was African American. This was a shock for me because BF and I (and obviously our children) are white. This wasn't really something I would have expected from BF and, frankly, isn't something I feel safe with my kids being exposed to. When I arrived to BF's to pick up my children I could smell fried chicken from inside the house and DD's shirt had a kool aid stain on it. I also think that I heard rap music coming from inside the house, but I may have just been feeling paranoid at the time.
I guess I'm just really unhappy and confused about this. I don't want to send the kids there with cash or valuables anymore for obvious reasons, but I still want to encourage them to respect other cultures (from a distance). I think that I just need time to adjust. Wow, life huh?
Re: Vent, pls don't flame
On second thought, you just need serious help period.
Was it the kool aid that gave it away? Haha.
OP, try harder, that wasn't even close to believable or interesting.
I don't know but they probably drank a lot of Kool Aid.
This has got to be a joke, right?
ETA: Obviously I am not alone. Should have read through the other responses.
Hmm didn't know you could afford Internet in the trailer park...good for you!
I am personally offended by your post. I am white, and my husband is Jamaican. I could not have wished to have a better man in my life. We are both PEOPLE, regardless of our complexions.
Your children are blessed with the chance to grow up experiencing more than one culture. Your children are blessed with the chance to grow up in an environment that demonstrates EQUALITY AMONG DIVERSITY.
If you are going to be concerned that your children had fried chicken and Kool-Aid for supper, it should be because they're not terribly healthy foods, not because of the person who fed it to them.
Are you aware that we are in the year 2013?
LMFAOOOOOOOOO
Or the "thought I heard rap music"? Afraid to send them with money and valuables...what? GAG
AIN'T NOBODY GOT TIME FOR DIS!!!

And by the way what does mud stand for
Don't want to send cash or valuables for obvious reasons!!!! WOW!! I'm sorry but are you racist? a white man could steal. Skin color has no impact on how a person is. and if your children haven't complained about her then why make such a big deal. You are going to make them distrust other races.
I'm not trying to "flame" but I have a biracial child and just really shocked to see this!
What's wrong with fried chicken? kids spill kool aid, something that white kids drink also! and I'm sorry but rap music is everyplace. I listen to it but my son first heard it at school.
Do you think maybe you're just trying to find somehting not to like about her and that's all you have? I'm really not trying to be mean. just don't get it.
