I've written many posts about my daughters pda and recently how she needed it ligated. Well she is a former 24 weeker now 35 weeks 10 weeks old she had it ligated Thursday , now she is having issues with her breathing especially starting last night, she has started to wake up and breathe over the vent , she's hyperventilate which she has always breathed fast due to the chronic lung disease when shed breathe over the vent shed breathe above it, blow off all her co2 to the point her oxygen saturations would drop to the 30's and she would need to be bagged. She kept fighting it so now they said her body needs to rest, pee off the extra fluid from surgery which is why she breathes so fast then stops and fights the vent. So now they have her on a continuous morphine drip to keep her sedated and not fight and just to relax and heal. My husband and I are just wrecks and don't know how much more we can handle. We know we did the right thing by fixing her pda but were def not ready to have her lungs be pokey again . We delt so long with that. The doctors said in 24 hours hopefully She will come around. We know she can handle the high flow nasal cannula bc she did before. Anyone else have any similar situations?

Re: After PDA surgery complications

Oh no. So sorry you are in this situation. You and your little girl have been in our thoughts and prayers though I haven't had much time to be on the bump lately.
Jake, also 24 weeker, had the PDA ligation at about 4 weeks old and was still on th
