My pediatrician recommended skipping the rice cereal and moving straight to veggies...like sweet potato. Anyone else try/do this? Why did you try it, and how did it go?
(I did try giving my kiddlet rice cereal and he made the "I'd rather daddy's socks" face.)

Yup. Completely skipping cereal and started with veggies and fruits. I make DS's food and I've been feeding him whatever fruits & veggies we are eating or we have on hand.

With DD we skipped rice and did oatmeal mixed with fruit. Her first veggie was avocado and sweet potato.
With DS we're skipping purees all together.
