Have you thought about when your child will start kindergarten?  In Massachusetts the majority (like 95%) of school districts put the cut off at Aug 31st, but in our school district is happens to be Dec 31st. 

The private school DS would attend has an Aug 31st cut-off and DH wants to start him with the later year anyway.  I would prefer to wait until he's closer to kindergarten to make that sort of determination.

What's the birthdate cutoff where you live and do you plan to abide by it?

    We are waiting until she is almost 6 for kindergarten.  The cut off is September 1st, you can test them and start early if their birthday is before Dec. 31st.  I even held Audrey back and she is August 11th (it was a very good decision.)&nbsp

    In the area we live now, a child must be 5 years of age on or before October 1 for kindergarten and 4 years of age for preschool.

    Looks like he has to be 5 by Sept. 1 to start kindergarten so I guess he will be one of the oldest kids in his class and start in 2017.

    DD will be nearly six when she starts kindergarten. I'm okay with this.

    DH and I were both physically late bloomers and it looks like DD is going to be on the smaller side, too. I think being one of the older kids in her class will make her feel

    Our public schools are pretty strict now I'm guessing because of overcrowding. The cutoff date is 5 by the start of the school year. I started school a year early, I turned 17 Jan of senior year. E turned 6 February of this year and is in K. We're waiting

    cutoff here is Oct 15. even if she's been born before we'd most likely hold Herr back, I'd rather she was one of the oldest In her class than the youngest.

    The cutoff here is 5 by August 1, so H will turn 6 two months after starting kindergarten.

    Here they must be 5 on or before October 1st. No exceptions. So DS will be starting kindergarten shortly before turning 6. That works for me. I'd be wary to have him start any younger than that.

    Cutoff here used to be December 1, but they are changing it to October 1. I work for a private school that is keeping the December cutoff. I'm really conflicted on what to do. He will go to my school, so he'll be able to start kindergarten in 2016, but he
